SubVersion is my new friend!
King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 9/7/2007
For the longest time I've wished I could work between the various computers and servers in my office and be able to work with a common source code for a particular project. I used to use Visual Source Safe 6.0d with Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. But when I got my new Vista Ultimate notebook, that FREE version of VSS didn't work on Vista. There was an incompatible C++ installed, or something like that. What am I going to do now? Then I found SubVersion.

King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 7/2/2007
I just purchased the DAL Tool Entity Spaces to build my applications. It's a real good tool that builds your Data Access Layer very quickly. SubSonic does this also, and it's FREE!

King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 6/13/2007
We just saw the movie, and while the movie isn't great, the score is fantastic. Once again Hans "Long John" Zimmer has done it again!

Wicked: The Musical
King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 4/18/2007

Last night, 4/19/2007, Julie and I went to see "Wicked" at the Pantages in Hollywood.  It was great! And funny and sad.  The entire cast was great and Megan Hilty who played Glinda was especially funny playing the "blonde" witch.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.  The only reason I don't give it five stars is the music.  It's not that the music isn't good, but for me it wasn't great.  (Keep in mind this is my opinion.)  For me only a few songs were really good.

But Stephen Schwartz who wrote the words and music did tell a believable back story for all the important characters that all seems to fit into place.  I won't give away what the story is for those who plan to see it.  While it's mostly ok for children, small children might not understand it or have as much fun as the original movie.  There's only so much special effects you can do on ...

Commerce Starter Kit 2.0 - Payment Provider UserControl project
King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 4/15/2007

I'm presently working on a customer Payment Provider UserControl for the Commerce Starter Kit 2.0.  I'm creating a dynamic way of selecting alternate payment providers in the PaymentService section of the web.config file, with the ability to edit the settings.

What is the purpose of this control?

Presently, the CSK 2.0 application has the PayPal payment provider hard-coded as the provider.  If you add your own provider code and modifications to the web.config file, you need to add it as the first section in the PaymentService section of the web.config file or else it won't be enabled.

My UserControl enables you to add your own payment provider class, modify the web.config file by adding your own provider settings, and have the settings be detected by this user control.

This way you just need to select the provider you want from the drop down menu, make any settings modificati ...

New Site
King Wilder's Blog By kwdnnsuper on 4/12/2007

April 13, 2007

I've finally launched my new web site.  I've decided to use DotNetNuke 4.5 and it's working swimmingly.  I bought this nice skin from NukeVille.com.  They have the best looking skins for a reasonable price and they installed without an issue.

I will be adding content to the different areas as time goes on, so come back and see what I have added.

For .Net programmers, or VB 6 programmers, I'll be posting some code that I wrote that helped me build applications quickly.

I'll try to keep the information fresh, but it takes time to add content when I'm working so much.
