This movie was close to three hours and while I really don't mind long movies, I wish it wasn't so hard to follow.
There was so much going on in the movie and so many stories that you really had to remember what happened in the previous movies to know what was going on in this one. All three movies have really great imagination, but I know that they could have been great if they had a stronger and simpler story.
After a certain point I ended up just resigning myself to enjoy the visuals and the characters because I was getting lost with who did what to whom, and where this person came from and why this guy is doing that.
But the score, now the score is something else. Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite composers of late and he almost never dissappoints me. While not all of the tracks are great, there are some tracks (in my opinion) that are fantastic.
"Up is Down" is my favorite. It's the music under the scene where the are in Davy Jone's Locker just having rescued Captain Jack Sparrow and now they are trying to figure out how to get back to the real world. Captain Jack Sparrow comes up with the idea to flip the ship over by having everyone run back and forth from one side of the ship to the other.
The music is so energetic and uplifting that it vaults to near the top of my all time favorite list for individual cues.
