It's amazing to see just how much knowledge Bill Maher has on politics and religion.  I think he and I would probably get along because we think alike. (We also met many years ago as I edited a feature film he was in.  I probably shouldn't mention the name of the film, but it had "Cannibal" in the title)

I know I'm probably going to get some hate postings, but being an atheist, I really wonder how people who look and act intelligent can seriously believe in someone they have never met or in something without any concrete evidence.

Bill's film really tries to ask questions of people of "faith" as to why they think the way they do.  The answers are generally those that dance around without answering.

The difference between he and I are that he's read the Bible and all the other books, and I haven't.  I will probably one day just to see what all the hub-bub is about.  I enjoy a good piece of fiction.  I can't believe, after reading that book, that I will suddenly want to live my life after it.

Anyway, if you are religious, you probably shouldn't see this movie.  If you aren't, this is really funny.

On a personal note, even though I'm an atheist, I don't care who is what.  I can and am friends with people of all faiths, races, creeds, etc.  I think it's stupid and dangerous to separate people by anything.  We are all human and should treat each other equally.

I never berate any one who believes in this God or that God.  What I don't like is when they try to persuade me to believe as they do.  Do what you want, but don't evangelize to me and don't hate me if I don't think as you do.
