The James Bond scores on the whole haven't been all that great since the era of John Barry, but there have been a few good cuts from any particular score that I like.
Of the James Bond songs, they might go in this order of favorites:
Granted, OHMSS doesn't really have a main title song, but overall I think it's one of the best scores of all the James Bond movies.
If you've ever actually listened to any of the lyrics of some of the early Bond movies, they are laughable. Moonraker for example. You can tell they just slapped some words together that kind of rhyme and could sound a little naughty and said, "Good".
"The Man with the Golden Gun" also has great (read guffaw) lyrics.
Love is required whenever he's hired He comes just before the kill
Love is required whenever he's hired
He comes just before the kill
Comes? He comes where? Oh cums! I get it.
It's lyrics like this that make me kringe.
Now "Diamonds are Forever" have probably the best lyrics that actually make sense. Hopefully in the upcoming Bond movies the opening song and music will be just as energetic and fun as the John Barry scores, but I think we will be in for a disappointment.
